SYRENA was incubated with Midnight Oil Collective’s 3rd cohort in the Fall of 2022.

Having received Spark funding through Midnight Oil for the initial round of development & research, our team is currently engaging partners for story development as well as collaborators for potential co-productions.

REFUGEE SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS
& BUSINESSES

We are looking to partner with refugee businesses and service agencies to expand the project’s impact beyond the artistic sector. We want to uplift the stories of wide-ranging community efforts to promote health, safety, and opportunity for refugees, immigrants, and asylum seekers in the United States and abroad.

ARTISTIC PARTNERS

In order to grow SYRENA’s reach, we hope to adapt the screenplay to a range of different formats. We are looking for film production companies and theaters who might be interested in participating in the project’s continued development and eventual production.

INDIVIDUAL CONSULTANTS

A core part of the development of SYRENA centers around connecting with and learning from individuals who have personal experience with the journey of seeking asylum and living as a refugee. Sitting with these individuals, hearing their stories, building relationships and gathering insights will shape the script. For their expertise and time, they are compensated and credited as consultants; if they wish, they can also remain anonymous.

COMMUNITY RESOURCES

We are in conversation with various organizations who are committed to providing a range of services to refugee communities. For more information, visit their websites.
